FAITH’S APPROACH TO COACHING

I work fluidly with clients from widely diverse backgrounds and sectors.

The common threads among my clients are intelligence and a commitment to growth and meaningful change. Many are in leadership roles. Others are at various stages in their careers and quite a few are entrepreneurs.

You can rest assured that no matter your subject area, we will be able to coach together successfully.

My role is to serve as the expert on coaching strategies and techniques while helping you apply them in whatever context you work.

Our success depends heavily on open communication and good chemistry. I emphasize creating an atmosphere of safety and trust, and genuinely welcome feedback.

When we are dealing with tough issues, I will encourage you to bring the same compassion to yourself that you might more easily offer others. I will extend that same compassion to you when you are wrestling with a tough challenge, including one that I have posed to you.

Coaching is forward-focused. It is a process of trial and error, as we create building blocks of new knowledge and experience to help you advance. We will ensure that you have a valuable take-away from every session — a new idea or approach to try out, an insight, something you want to observe about yourself or someone you work with. I will remind you of your progress and keep a strong focus throughout on building upon your strengths. I’ll also bring a light touch and humor as appropriate, since the more you enjoy and value our coaching, the more you will achieve.

Clients are often surprised initially by the number of questions we coaches ask. In contrast to consulting and mentoring, we are not there to provide answers but rather to help you get better and better at finding your own answers by tapping your own intuition and experience. Still, there may be times when you feel really stuck. If that happens, I will offer some possibilities, always with the caveat that they aren’t recommendations but rather something you can react to, to stimulate your own thinking.

ARE WE A GOOD MATCH?

The foundation of a successful coaching relationship is safety, respect and liking between client and coach. To help you evaluate if we would be a good match, here are some things to consider:

• Have you reached a threshold where you are ready for change, or ready to get help arriving there?

• Can you (or would you like to) envision our time together as an oasis for transformation in the midst of your challenging life?

• Would you be willing to consider yourself and your life from a perspective of friendly curiosity?

• Are you open to exploring who and how you want to be, as a way into new change?

• Do you value being challenged in an encouraging, supportive way?

• Can you see (or imagine) change as an adventure?

• Do you enjoy incorporating humor and laughter into deep exploration?

• Do you care enough about the change you seek to make our appointments a priority?
